Amtrak is a national heavy-rail transportation system. The Amtrak rail line spans over 21,000 miles across the United States offering intercity service to 500 destinations. The Silver Meteor and Silver Star both operate the New York -Orlando - Miami route daily. Currently, the Miami Amtrak Station is six miles from Miami International Airport in Northwest Miami-Dade. An extension of the current Amtrak rail line from the Miami Amtrak Station to the Miami Central Station is planned.
